 Spacewar! (1962)
Spacewar! is one of the first wideo game. It's a 2 players game conceived in 1961 by Martin Graetz, Stephen Russell, and Wayne Wiitanen. It was first realized on the PDP-1 in 1962. This is the original 1962 game code running on PDP-1 emulator in Java, with minor changes.
The "a", "s", "d", "f" keys control one of the spaceships. The "k", "l", ";", "'" keys control the other. Found on game|life blog.

 Tower Defence
After the great Flash Element TD, yet another Flash adaptation of the popular "Warcraft 3 Element Tower Defence" or "Starcraft Turret Defence" games. This version, developed by Roman Sanine, uses very simple graphics (circles for ennemies) but it's surprisingly as addictive as the version developed by David Scott (Flash Element TD). This is a proof that we don't need sophisticated graphics to make a fun game. In this version you don't start the waves, they arrive after a count down, so you have to place your towers in real time. This adds a lot of dynamism to the game. Well done!

 Flash element TD
The game is a browser based version developed by David Scott and inspired by Element TD for Warcraft III. The aim of the game is to kill the creeps before they reach the end of the maze, do this by building attacking towers on the grass around the maze. Keep as much of your gold in the bank as possible, at the end of each round you earn interest. Here are some tips. Becareful the difficulty progression has been very well balanced and the game is very addictive. It has been released by the begining of the year and gets more than 100,000 players a day. Check the game's blog as the version 2 is on the rails...

 Tangram game
The Tangram game is a chinese puzzle, that you might already know. Now you can play it online and for free. for thos who don't already know, the objective is to form a specific shape with seven pieces. Check "Allow cheat" to get some tips when you are stuck.

 Scared
Scared is a little first-person 3D shooter for Java developed by Dave. Its engine is very similar to Wolfenstein 3D. The game itself is not actually fun, I just wanted to point out this nice engine that could be used to do great games.

 GoneBallistic
A classic tank game developed in Java by Jens of gamemakers.de, featuring a 2 players mode. Try to destroy the tanks of your enemies by adjusting the angle and escape velocity of your bombs and firing away. Right and left arrows control the angle. Up and down arrows control the velocity. Enter fires the tank.

After Javanoïd, here comes a great Flash remake of Arkanoïd. This one is very similar to the original game but is not a clone. About 20 powerups to discover and different types of blocks to destroy (incuding a nice chain reaction block).

When Pacman meets Tron, it's PacXon. Move Pacamn over the walls and build a new wall to catch the ghosts. The wall must be completed without being touched by a ghost. An addictive gameplay.

SimCity is a famous simulation and city-building video game first released in 1989 and designed by Will Wright from Maxis. Maxis has released this free and browser based clone. You need to register and install some ActiveX plugins on your computer but the game is actually free. You must design a city as big as possible but becareful to flooding, tornadoes, fires, riots, and earthquakes...
